The Hype About Phthalates

About 6 months ago, I was speaking with a woman who worked for a company that was testing food storage containers for phthalates. I asked her what a phthalate was (I had honestly never heard of this word) and she explained to me that it was a compound chemical used to soften the hardest plastics, and was used in products such as food storage containers, children's toys, and sex toys! Sex toys?? Couldn't be.... if phthalates are harmful, why would they put them into sex toys, which are used on our most intimate and sensitive parts of the body!?! This question is EXACTLY why the use of phthalates of become quite the controversy in the adult toy industry. Since I feel it is important to keep my readers informed, I decided to do a little bit of research on the topic(click on the links to see the whole articles I received my research from)... here is what I found.....

It started between years 1997 and 2005 when it was being discovered by both doctors and research teams that there were multiple phthalates in peoples urine, and that there was a direct link between children's allergies, birth defects, and adult infertility, and the use phthalates in common products such as perfume, pesticides, children's toys, etc... After about seven years, in 2004, the European Union banned the use of several phthalates in the manufacturing of children's toys. However, in the United States there is no law in place to ban those uses, just like there is no regulation on the manufacturing of sex toys and their companies by the United States Government.

A lavender, ribbed egg, the Silk Touch has a smooth velvety texture to its' exterior, a coiled cord (similar to that of the old telephone cords), a jackpin for easy cleaning and storage, a controller that has 6 different functions, phthalate free, and it comes with a 90 day manufacturers warranty!! Although this egg only requires 3 AAA batteries, it is the STRONGEST and most INTENSE vibrating egg/bullet I have EVER used! :) The first time I turned on the Silk Touch, I set it on the 1st function (solid vibration) on the lowest speed (the dial turned all the way to the bottom)... and Oh My Goodness... it was already stronger than the highest setting on any other average bullet out on the market!! Turning the dial on the controller upwards only made the egg vibrate harder and I quickly discovered that the strongest vibration may not be for everyone when the batteries are brand new... although after the batteries aren't so new anymore, the strongest vibration would be just fine for anyone. After being AMAZED by just the first setting I decided to push the silver button in the center of the controller to see what the other 5 functions could do... every function was a different set pulsations and vibrations, BUT the last function... function #6... is by far the best setting of all. Function #6 is a sequence of incredibly strong and quick vibrations that was unlike anything I had seen out in any stores.

Aside from it's amazing functions, there is one important quality to the Silk Touch Egg that not many consumers would consider a perk... a small tube at the end of the egg that covers up part of the cord, making it easier to hold during use. Why is this important??? Many consumers complain that their bullets stop working because the cord breaks or frays... the reason for this breakage is because consumers are using their bullets by holding on to the cord, therefore bending it repeatedly and thus breaking the cord causing the bullet to stop working. Since the Silk Touch Egg has that piece to hold on too, this egg will have a much longer life (I've had mine for 2 years now).
